ABOUT
Meet Ekaterini
Although my full name is Ekaterini, most people know me as Katerina.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist serving adults throughout California. My work focuses on attachment, trauma, relationship patterns, self-worth, and personal growth. As a Certified EMDR Therapist, I help clients work through the lasting impact of difficult life experiences, relational wounds, and patterns that no longer support the life they want to create.
As a Greek American who was raised primarily in Greece, I bring both personal and professional insight into the ways culture, identity, family expectations, and belonging shape our experiences. Living between cultures has given me a deep appreciation for the complexities of multicultural identity and the challenges that can arise when navigating different values, traditions, and ways of relating. This perspective informs my work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and helps me approach each client's experience with curiosity, cultural sensitivity, and respect.
I provide therapy in both English and Greek, allowing clients to engage in the language and cultural context that feels most natural to them.
I believe meaningful change begins with understanding ourselves more deeply. My goal is to help clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and more secure relationships with themselves and others. Together, we work to understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck while creating opportunities for lasting and meaningful change.

How I Work
Attachment-Focused Therapy and EMDR
The ways we learned to connect, protect ourselves, and relate to others early in life often continue to influence our relationships, boundaries, sense of self, and even the ways we approach achievement, success, and self-worth in adulthood.
You may find yourself repeating familiar relationship patterns, struggling to communicate your needs, feeling disconnected from yourself, constantly striving, holding yourself to exceptionally high standards, or wondering why certain challenges continue to resurface despite your efforts to move forward.
Many of the adults I work with are thoughtful, capable, and successful in many areas of life, yet still find themselves struggling with anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, perfectionism, or a persistent feeling that they have to keep proving their worth.
Therapy offers an opportunity to slow down and meet yourself with greater compassion and understanding while exploring the patterns that shape your relationships, sense of self, and emotional well-being. Many people come to therapy already knowing why they struggle. Yet despite that awareness, they may continue to feel anxious, disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck in familiar patterns. Meaningful change often happens when we move beyond insight alone and begin connecting with our emotional, physical, and nervous system responses in new ways.
As a Certified EMDR Therapist, I integrate attachment-focused, trauma-informed, cognitive, psychoeducational, and nervous system-informed interventions to help clients move beyond understanding their patterns and toward creating meaningful, lasting change. Together, we work to strengthen self-awareness, build emotional resilience, and develop more secure ways of relating to yourself and others.
Background
Career & Credentials
I studied psychology as an undergraduate before earning my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles.
My early clinical experience was rooted in community mental health, where I worked with individuals, families, and adolescents navigating a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges. These experiences helped shape my understanding of the many ways people cope, adapt, and heal.
Throughout my career, I have worked across community mental health, school-based counseling, and behavioral health settings, supporting clients through a broad range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and substance use.
Since 2017, much of my work has focused on trauma, addiction, and co-occurring mental health concerns. In addition to providing direct clinical care, I have served in leadership roles across detoxification, residential, and intensive outpatient programs, including several years as a Clinical Director overseeing treatment services and supervising developing clinicians.
These experiences have reinforced my belief that our struggles do not exist in isolation. They are often shaped by our relationships, life experiences, environments, and the ways we have learned to adapt over time. Understanding that broader context remains central to how I approach therapy.
Today, I bring this breadth of experience into private practice, where I integrate attachment-focused, trauma-informed care and EMDR therapy to help clients create meaningful and lasting change.
